37th Annual Birthday Celebration

I'm not sure when the ANNUAL 37th Birthday Celebration came to be but it has definitely taken hold.

I look forward to it and the birthdays are not so bad when it is my 37th birthday celebration. It also helps that the Foothills Fall Festival is around my birthday. It just feels like a party and I always take off work.

Gray hair shows up too soon. Wrinkles creep in. Old age spots start to pop out. All of this should happen in your 60's or something. Definitely not in your 30's... so once a year I block it and let the annual 37th birthday guide me to a happier place for a few days.

Today was a perfect day. I woke up to rain. Okay, my precious darling beloved mother called me at 8:15am on my birthday & day off to sing "Happy Birthday".... once the sleepy faded the sound of rain filtered in. I love a rainy day at home. It is one of my all time favorite things in this life. I had also saved the birthday cards via snail mail for today. Loved them & it felt great to start the day off feeling special even if my brother & sister-in-law's birthday card was a tad bit on the mean side, the bust out laughing, mean side.

Several cups of coffee later & homemade biscuits by Mom via the freezer stash, I headed out to the salon for a facial. I should make every attempt to look 37 as well since I'm enjoying the annual celebration, right? Some people say that I do and two years ago I agreed without any hesitation. Now I wonder about their eyesight or if perhaps they are being kind. I have aged well due to Dove soap & Oil of Olay at an early age but 37 might be pushing it. LOL

The facial was divine. There was also a complimentary chair massage prior to the facial. After the facial, I had bed head hair for sure. I had left it curly & it dried very wild. They threw in a complimentary wash & blow dry for my birthday. That really made me happy because I love to have my hair blown dry straight & smooth.

Walgreen's is one of my favorite stores so I stopped by for Cadbury's chocolate & a look around. (You wouldn't believe the clearance or just great deals I find at Walgreen's!) A major highlight of today was finding a retractable kabuki brush that I will use for my travel powder brush. I have one from years ago that I love but I really wanted a fat one for powder so the retractable blush brush can be the blush brush. SOOOOO EXCITED TO FIND ONE TODAY after keeping an eye out for such an item for so long. I <3 Walgreen's!

Then I came home to harvest the Farmtown grapes, put on make-up, and check on having the washing machine looked at sometime this week while I'm off work. *crosses fingers for it to be an inexpensive fix* One of my closest & dearest friends invited me over for supper. She loves me enough to grill steaks out in the rain. LOL We had rib-eyes, baked potatoes, fresh corn, grilled veggies, and turtle cookies for desert. I don't get to hang out with her like we use to and I really enjoyed the visit. The kids are growing like weeds. And her husband thought I was 37 so I really loved that!!!!

Facebook was full of birthday wishes, funny comments, teasing, and I grinned throughout the day over each one. Social networking fills a lot of gaps in my reality. It was a great, great, great day other than missing my sweet Dad's call but I loved his voicemail. And the celebration will continue... tomorrow is hiking if the weather allows. Friday is the festival. Saturday is lunch with another great friend. And Sunday I will relax & be thankful for the time off work to prepare for the quirks that the turning of the calendar page will bring once my body realizes another year has past. *rolls eyes* But for a few days, I'm still 37 and loving it!!

PAM, NOW I KNOW WE ARE RELATED. I READ THAT YOU LOVED THE RAINY DAY AT HOME AND I SAID "SHE SHOULD BE MY DAUGHTER FOR SURE" I HAD JUST MENTIONED TO DON YESTERDAY HOW MUCH I LOVED IT AND OF COURSE HE THINKS I'M NUTS. IT MAKES ME FEEL SAFE. I'LL EXPLAIN THAT ONE LATER.
I AM SO GLAD YOU HAD A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY. YOU DESERVE IT. I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO CELEBRATE IT WITH YOU. THE ACCIDENT SORT OF PUT A DAMPER ON OUR TRIPS TO EAST TENN, BUT MAYBE NEXT YEAR.
KEEP UP THE OIL OF OLAY. THAT IS WHAT HAS KEPT ME SO BEAUTIFUL, HA!
HAPPY 37TH BIRTHDAY*****AGAIN*****

I am glad that you had a great day. I have truly loved being able to read about what you are doing and how it has made me feel close to you again, when we haven't seen each other in so long.I still think about those hot dog lunches we used to share....I too love a rainy day at home and Julian hates them. There's something peaceful and relaxing about them. He thinks they are dreary and depressing. Funny how the very same thing can be viewed so differently. Often, perspective is everything!

Guess Mom was just so excited she had to call you that early! I never thought about freezing biscuits..

Love you,
