Gotta love the besties** in life...

Posted by Picasa

Lynn is definitely a bestie. We meet for lunch today to celebrate my 37th birthday and she gave me the above card. I made a collage with Picasa to show off each section. It was too hard to read when I put the whole card in one picture. And no, it is not old eyesight. It simply was too small. We've known each other for 10 years now and she thought I'd like this card. I did. The section on the yellow is what cracked me up. Too funny! (click on image & it opens in another window so you can see it)

One thing about being in one area for 11.5 years is that I've made some truly great friends. We moved a lot when I was growing up so I made friends here & there. I loved it and I'm a gypsy in spirit so it suited me even as a small child. So it surprised me to discover that people in this area have known each other since elementary school or early high school. The families have ties to this region, to their county, and to the communities in surrounding counties. The roots run deep. It's amazing to me. I am not in touch with anyone from elementary school. I can just hear the remarks another one of my close friends would say over that. (Zip it, Mike!)

As much as I miss my family, as much as I love Nashville, and as much as I'd loooooove to live in Manhattan or out West for a while, I think I've made roots here and a lot of that has to do with the truly great friends I am fortunate to have in my life. It's kind of nice to have people around for 10+ years. I meet some great people within my first year or so over here. Now I have a handful of people that I've known for a decade. THAT IS JUST CRAZY!!! A whole decade has passed but I still see them, talk to them, hang out, and celebrate life's moments with them. Next month we'll be celebrating Lynn's 30th birthday and I remember when she was 19! Crazy!!!!

I'll have to find a really goooooood card for her this year. Better start looking now!

**Betsies means best friends. It can be used on the net or in the real world. This definition provided for anyone over the age of 37 that might not understand urban slang. **
