Stars align and goals are reached!

I don't remember if I listed the nine goals for 2009 on this site or not. I went with nine since it is 2009. I truly thought it would be spring or summer before I accomplished even one of them. I always dream big but my reality is WAY, WAY different! ;-)

It's been slow at work so I've been researching cameras. I wanted one that is slim, weightless, and can fit in my purse or pocket. I was able to purchase that last week and it arrived in time for the unexpected tickets to a UT basketball game. I charged it & took it with me. PERFECT! I couldn't even tell it was in my purse.

There are some settings that I need to learn! For sure! Here are a few photos for you to check out.

I took several of this wallpaper just to try out settings.
I love it this design. It popped up w/ desktopia. Check it out!
Awesome wallpapers every 20 minutes.

I tried several settings this morning to see what
it did while in motion. I like it. Color is off a bit.

This is a picture from the basketball game. Most of them
were okay. Nothing WOW but again I have not read the manual yet!

It felt great accomplishing one of my goals. I was grinning all day. I've been looking on line at furniture, HDTV's, digital SLR, etc. I am pretty sure I have the living room furniture picked out. It's just a matter of saving. The GREAT buys on the HDTV's are gone right now unless I check Circuit City's liquidation sale. I really want the furniture and media center first. I'll just wait on that for now.

The digital SLR has been a want for a few years now. Dad and I looked at a Nikon D40 or D60 last year at the mall. I've been reading about them, checking reviews, etc. I just really hoped that Canon would make a digital SLR that will fit my Canon T70. However, the lens mount was changed from this to that and I don't think it will happen.

There is an adapter out. My lens would work but you lose all the benefits of digital. There's no auto focus, metering, etc. I'm old school so I could probably deal with that. I love fast and digital gives you that!

Zac (see link to see his blog) invested in a Nikon D40. I've been AMAZED at the photos he has taken. They are bright, vibrant, and full of detail. The bird picture on his blog just blew me away. I love it!

He built us light boxes and now he wants a fancy wancy digital SLR. I'm happy with my clamp on lamp & a bulb!!!! ha! There is a new album posted with light box photos from this past weekend if you would like to go check it out.

I'm very, very happy with the Kodak Z7590 that I've had 2 or 3 years now. It takes wonderful pictures. The detail in them amazes me. The colors are sharp & it's taken well over 3,000 photos in the time I've had it. I'm starting to wonder if you can wear a camera out because there is delay in the lens popping out and a slight lag in the shutter release. But.... I 'll keep using it until it dies.

The one thing I do not like is the limitation of the zoom. It will zoom and take a breathtaking photo up to 3-5 feet from the subject. I can't get the birds I want with that! Plus the little boogers are fast. I want a picture of them in flight and zoomed in. My backyard is alive with birds from spring to early winter. There were about 20 robins out last Sunday. I tried and tried. I just couldn't get close enough with the lens.

Zac has offered me a FANTASTIC price on his camera with a totally cool camera bag that I've wanted one of every since I saw his bag. (see his blog for a great review) I told him that I would think about it. This is when the stars lined up and I knew it was meant to be! I love that feeling.

I talked to a professional photographer friend and asked what she thought about the Nikon D40. She said to jump on it and not let that deal get away. She is going to convert to Nikon cameras when she can afford to do so.

Today was the last day to buy $5 worth of lottery tickets and get a free ticket. I had to try at least ONCE this month for that free money!!! I was buying my tickets and trying to send Zac a text that I am 98% certain that I would purchase that from him when my phone beeped. Zac sent me a text saying his darling wife had okayed the purchase of the Nikon D80 and a new lens so he will sell me his camera & give me a great price on the zoom he just got!!!! IT WAS FATE! I saw the stars twinkle at me and I knew this was just meant to be.

He's bringing it to me Monday so I can play around with it and see what I think. The super perfect timing means I can take it to Georgia with me. The hummingbirds will not be out but I can try out the zoom on TOOOOOOOOONS of stuff around there. I'm stoked!!!!!

Life is good! I'm going to enjoy this part of the ride for as long as it last!!!! We all know life is also like a roller coaster and sometimes it's downhill & scary. I love it when you reach the top & feel the exhilaration!

So the camera part of the goals has been accomplished. Commission is rocking the house and savings can be started for the living room conversion!!!! Woo! Or has the good professor says, "wOOt"!!!
