Hoping, Wishing, & Praying

My lovely Rav4 is on it's last leg. Unfortunately, there's not any chemo treatments to cure her. She's been a reliable ride for several years now and kept on giving me all she had even after major surgery, aka transmission rebuilt & clutch replaced. I believe the 120 miles a day round trip to work for over two years played a large part in her demise. She's a TOYOTA and they last forever. I wanted one for years and I've been soooooo happy to have one but it's time to retire her.

Fifth gear popped out of place in December on my way back from Georgia. Two days later it went out permanently. Dealing with cancer was the primary concern so I was okay with putt-putting around town. Last week the driver side seat belt made a loud ripping noise and all the material piled into my lap.

It's $200 for the part to fix it. I know, right? TO FIX A SEAT BELT? And that is not even covering labor. This information is per a Toyota forum and not the dealership so I could be wrong. Fixing seat belts should be free since we are required to wear them. I think cracked windshields should be free as well but then I don't make these decisions. I know from past experience to have fifth gear repaired is going to be costly.

Anyway, Ellen is giving away a GMC All-Terrain this week. I submitted my entry today. The chances of winning are slim. I know that BUT it would be so awesome to win one now. Tomorrow is the end of month five. And ONE MORE MONTH to go then I'm done.

I'll need wheels when I'm done. My family is 387 miles away. Nashville is almost 200 miles away. The whales are over 1,000 miles away. (I should fly up for that!) I'm stuck here because you can't road trip well doing 55 mph in fourth gear on the interstate. And second gear is acting iffy.

It would be an answer to prayers if I won it. And it would be an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL way to celebrate being done with chemo. It seems my world stopped in December. My car did too. I'll be coming back to life late June so it stands to reason my wheels should be new too! Makes perfect sense to me!!!
